Gua Sha

What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha dates back over 2,000 years and is the most common treatment for prevention of disease in China. Translated, it means "to scrape toxins". In this topical, surpass treatment, blood and Qi circulation are increased and moves toxic heat and stagnant blood. In doing so, invading external pathogenic factors can be expelled through the pores of the skin (just as they often enter the body). Simultaneously, the stimulation of the Lymph System, through Gua Sha, improves the body's natural ability to fight off infection. The repetitive motion of stimulation with a Jade instrument creates a build up of fluid, leaving a vacuum in place that draws out the toxins accumulated deep within the tissue, creating "petechiae".
